Paper bags can be classified in a variety of ways and in detail. Firstly, from a usage perspective, paper bags cover multiple fields including food packaging, shopping, gift-giving, document storage, portable carrying, envelope mailing, pharmaceutical packaging, cement packaging, feed transportation, clothing packaging, waxed paper packaging, laminated protection, fertilizer loading, four-layer reinforcement, and beverage carrying.

Secondly, based on the design differences of the bag edges, bottom, and seal, paper bags can be divided into four types: valve-sewn, open-sewn bottom, open-glued corner bottom, and valve-type flat hexagonal end-glued bottom. In terms of material selection, paper bags mainly use kraft paper, white cardboard, coated paper, and whiteboard paper, with a small amount also made of specialty paper. Finally, based on the design of the handles and perforations, paper bags can be further subdivided into various styles such as DCK (cordless bag with perforated handle), NKK (perforated drawstring bag), BBK (with flap but no perforation), and NAK (perforated bag with drawstring, including no flap and standard flap type).
